HIMALAYA HINDI HOUSE is located between the Uttarkashi-Gangotri Road and the river Ganga at Nolunna, 21 km north of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India. Nolunna has a mild and pleasant climate during the Indian summer. Surrounded by the indescribable majesty of the Himalayas, it is an ideal place for those who love wilderness and simple living.
Only visitors speak English so the venue gives ample opportunity for practising Hindi.The main attractions of the region are the Gomukh Glacier, Valley of the Flowers, and the four pilgrimage centers: Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
HIMALAYA HINDI HOUSE offers short intensive and long courses in Hindi from mid-June to August with a Himalayan experience of a lifetime. Other courses may be offered at different times on DEMAND.
Himalaya Hindi House is a paying guest house where Hindi lessons are also given privately. Outside of the regular teaching periods, one may stay at the HHH on a weekly basis by booking WELL in advance.

Beginning from the basics of Hindi, students acquire the ability to read, write, and have a simple conversation by the end of the course. No prerequisite is required.
The course is 3.5 hours a day and five days a week; 17.5 class contact hours weekly and a weekly assignment.
It is conversationally oriented with emphasis on one to one communication with Hindi speakers. The classes are limited to Six students. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Students who already have conversational skills may learn the script in a couple of weeks and then be placed in either Intermediate or Advanced level classes. Besides studying Hindi language and literature, student would have ample opportunity to experience and assimilate Indian culture.
At the Intermediate level, the prior knowledge of
Hindi is applied to consolidate language efficiency. Emphasis is given to conversational
Hindi while enhancing reading and writing skills.
Prerequisite : a basic knowledge of the language.
Six week course : One hundred class contact hours and weekly assignments.
The classes are limited to SIX students. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Students who have completed Elementary and/or Intermediate
Hindi with us may be able to be enrolled to the Australian National University’s
accredited courses Applied Hindi A and/or Applied Hindi B (see the link below)

After you have completed the intermediate course with us, you may continue to the Advanced Hindi level course.
The Advanced course is usually offered on demand. Advanced level classes are conducted in Hindi discussing contemporary literary and cultural issues.
Yogendra
Yadav, the founder of Himalaya Hindi House, taught Hindi at
the Australian National
University as well as in the U.S. and Europe for more than two decades.
He has written a number of publications including Hindi texts and the grammar An Introduction to Hindi and Urdu, VI edition 2000. Yogendra has also assisted a number of students undertaking individual research projects on aspects of South Asia.
He is currently a part-time lecturer at the Australian National University.
Apart from being a very competent teacher of language, Yogendra's easygoing nature has won him many friends all around the world. Over the past ten years Yogendra has conducted accredited intensive Hindi courses in India on behalf of Australian and US universities. Yogendra is assisted by local monolingual female and male tutors.
The classes are held at the Himalaya
Hindi House, Nolunna. It is located in the Ganga Valley of the Garhwal
region of Uttarakhand state. 
Nolunna,
in the district of Uttarkashi, is connected by road to Rishikesh and is situated
on the right bank of the Ganga river.

This region has a very powerful presence and is still very peaceful, despite being a very important Hindu pilgrimage center.
Away from the hassles of big and
trendy cities, this place gives plenty of opportunity to learn and become
fluent in Hindi as well as gaining a more profound knowledge of the Garhwali
culture.
The family vegetarian kitchen is
run by clean and friendly people at Nolunna. Lodging and board is available
for six people at Nolunna. Lodging and boarding charges are $150 per week
for rooms with attached bathroom. Hot water is provided in buckets.
Overall costs are inexpensive compared to other programs because of the simplicity of the venue.
Besides meeting high academic standards of learning in Hindi language and culture in a friendly environment, you will also have an unforgettable experience.
The courses are a lot of fun and a very good way to become fluent in Hindi.
